began at the bottom of South America
in Tierra
del Fuego, and continued north to the
uppermost
edge of Alaska at Barrow. George began this amazing journey nearly 31,000 km ago in 1977 and has devoted nearly 23 years to complete. Interestingly, no human, nor aircraft,nor vehicle of any kind has ever fully crossed all the Americas; by foot it is unequaled! His wife and two children, both of whom have attended school with the Inupiat Eskimos of Barrow, will be accompanying him to Labrador 2002. Meegan currently holds the most World's Records (8) of any European; one being The Longest Unbroken March of All Time (2,425 days). These records symbolically allow him to attempt this process leading towards Reconciliation. The Vice President of the European Parliament has specifically presented the flag of the European Union expressly for the purpose of Reconciliation between the European Union and the First Nations' Peoples of the World. |
